Rotary Valve – Pneumatic Lock

One of the most critical components of pneumatic and mechanical conveying systems, the Rotary Valve (also known as an Air Lock), serves both as a feeder and a sealing element in the transfer of bulk materials from one hopper to another. Principle of Operation

The system operates through the synchronisation of gravity and mechanical rotational movement:

Filling: Powder or granular material at the upper feed point flows into the gaps between the rotor blades under its own weight.

Transfer: The rotor, driven by a motor-gearbox, rotates and conveys the material through the blade gaps to the lower outlet.

Discharge: The material is introduced into the system via the lower outlet as the rotor moves. During this process, the rotor blades act as an airlock by keeping the air flow (pressure difference) between the inlet and outlet to a minimum.
