Batch Friction Polisher; used as the first step in the delicate cleaning processes of pulses, snack-grade sunflower seeds, flowers, vegetables, and field and garden seeds; it is a PLC-controlled surface treatment and hulling machine that removes unwanted structures such as outer husks, hairs, spines, tails and wings from the product surface without damaging the seed, and giving the product an aesthetic appearance suitable for the retail sector.

Operating Principle: The process on this machine, which can be fully optimised via an integrated PLC control system, begins with the feeding of a specified quantity of raw material into the cylindrical drum. The machine operates with the following parameters, which can be flexibly programmed according to the seed structure:

• Bidirectional Drum Movement: The cylindrical mechanism rotates both clockwise and anti-clockwise at intervals set via the PLC. The dwell time between rotations and the drum speed are precisely controlled to create a homogeneous friction environment.
• Surface Cleaning and Separation: Thanks to the controlled friction and rolling motion within the drum, seeds that are stuck together are safely separated; external layers such as husks, spines or hairs, which shorten storage life and reduce product quality, are removed from the seeds.
• Integrated Aspiration (Vacuum): During the process, the light outer husks, dust and foreign particles that are removed are instantly extracted from the main product by a powerful aspiration system, the speed of which can be adjusted via the PLC screen.

At the end of the process, snack products such as sunflower seeds—particularly those intended for the retail market—achieve a shiny, clean and highly appealing appearance, whilst the sterile surface environment required for the long-term storage of the seeds is ensured.
